my mum just turned 50. all she got was oven gloves and hankys and chocolates and wine and bunches of flowers and plant pots and ....a rain gauge? she also got some elephant candle holders..sounds pretty weak but she seemed happy enough.I'd go with the wine though.

If you don't know her personal tastes, then go with Stationary, Flowers/Plant or a Pretty Music Box =)

Well, I am over 50. There is not much I truly need or want. But, I always like getting a good smelling candle or cologne. Plus, foot and body cream always make me happy.Or, you can get $5 and $10 gift certificates at fast food places. I love going through a drive thru and getting a bag of apple slices when I am traveling. There are healthy choices at most places now. Put a gift card for Starbucks in a card. I love trying their lattes and sweets.Smile

If you don't know the person well, a gift card is always a good, safe bet. Ask your friend what some of her favorite stores are.

Ask your friend what he thinks she might like. A gift card to a store she likes is always nice.

a gift certificate to a home decor store. You dont know her well, and dont want to get too 'personal' with a gift....a Gift Certificate with a nice card is probably the safest bet....$25 bucks sounds like a nice amount.

A potted orchid. If she cares for it well, it will last for months. If she doesn't, it'll still last for weeks. Average price, $30.

Unique art gift is the best present. There is a web site –photoartomation.com ( http://www.photoartomation.com ), they convert a digital photos into paintings of different art styles and print them on canvas. My friend sent them a picture and they turned it into beautiful piece of art. I saw it and it really looks good.
