I have four children - who are all already looking forward to Christmas and writing their lists for Father Christmas - as you can imagine - it can be an expensive event!!Father Christmas usually brings them a book, some candy, a soft fluffy toy and a toy they have asked for - we usually give them something nice each and a smaller gift each from their siblings - it isn't much - but x 4 really ads up!Anyone have any really sweet or clever ideas for things kids would love that won't cost so much - or perhaps ideas for others (such as grandma / grandpa / work friends / friends etc) that are cheaper so we can put the extra money towards the kids?oh, we live in Australia - so it is very hot at Christmas

If you need help with christmas ,you can check with your towns local salvation army. they help people out at christmas. you will need social security cards for yourself and all of your kids. you may need your current utility bills and your current pay stubs. they will tell you about what you need to bring with you. they will tell you when you can sign up for the help and also what you will need to bring with you. call as soon as possible i don't remember if they start to take applications in Sept. or Oct. also walmart and the dollar stores have cheap items you can buy. good luck, god bless you, hope you have a good christmas. i hope this info. helps you.

For the kids you should write a letter to them and pretend it's from Father Christmas - they'll be thrilled to recieve a personalised letter from him! For the other relatives - last year I was on a MAJOR budget. I bought lots of lollipop stick and made decorative boxes out of them and glittered the lids (google search for instructions). I also searched for "gifts in a jar" online. Basically you layer up ingredients for cookies, brownies etc (flour, sugar, cocoa powder etc) in a jar so it's looks pretty, and then you write a label with cooking instructions ("Empty mixture into bowl, stir in two eggs, and cook for..."). Those are great gifts. I also made my own bath salts: rock salts, perfume, a little talc powder so it stays dry and food colouring! You could also buy fleecey blankets and stitch in a personalised name?

Making gifts can be less expensive to give to family & friends.Have the kids make things for close relatives as they are always appreciated by all...Like framing their drawings, homemade wreaths,or ornaments, framed special photos, etc....Making food items is also a money saver when making things in bulk to give to others..like fudge, cookies, candy ,breads, etc...Packaging /wrapping of gifts can be fun and less as well...Try usingthe colored comics out of a newspaper, childrens art works, plain brown paper bags with stickers on them, and fast food boxes can sometimes help with odd shaped gifts as well..=)
