If you're not this co-worker's bestest friend, then $100 is perfectly adequate. If it was your BFF or a sibling, then more is required. Besides, nobody needs to know what you're putting in the card - and if the bride and groom discuss it with anyone, they're just TACKY.

For a work acquaintance that you are not super close with, I think $100 is more than generous. Don't worry about what your other co-workers say. It seems to me that they were being rude by laughing at your gift idea. Hope you have fun at the wedding though!

I agree with Glinda. $50 is very generous for a co-worker.Don't let people try to shame you into giving more, you don't need to go into debt for someone you don't know that well.

I gave that much to my brother for his wedding. That is A LOT of money for someone you are not even related to - give me a break!

If you aren't particularly close to the co worker, then $100 is not cheap. I spent $200 on a wedding present, but the bride I were born 2 weeks apart, and have been friends our whole lives.
