Ladies, why do you like flowers so much?

You can't eat them, deink them or spend them. Surely a nice cabbage or bag of carrots would be a more practical gift? I personally think that they are a waste of money just to sit in a vase all day, they only last a few days, then start to leave a mess on the side, plus i'm not in much to look at them!! My husband knows never to buy me flowers as i'd rather the money got to something more pratical. Artificial flowers is all you will find in my house. It is the thoughtfulness of the man obtaining something for the woman that has no practical value but signifies that he was thinking of her and went a little out of his way to show her that. But - for many women romanticism is about the man's thoughtfulness, attention to detail and appreciation of her, so something with a personal significance to her would be more valuable than flowers, wine, candles, or any other traditional romantic symbol. Back before flowers could be bought your cabbage and carrots were possibly loved too.Although there is a colorful, flowering cabbage these days. A live plant. It's the fact that no one really buys flowers for themselves but buying a bag of carrots or cabbage is something you do often for yourself.
