You all seem to enjoy receiving flowers, but why? You can't eat them, deink them or spend them. Surely a nice cabbage or bag of carrots would be a more practical gift?

Well personally I don't 'love' them but it's a traditional gift and it's always been seen as a romantic gesture and I think it's nice when men get you flowers.

I don't actually like flowers in vases, i would rather look out of my window and see a nice garden in full bloom. I personally think that they are a waste of money just to sit in a vase all day, they only last a few days, then start to leave a mess on the side, plus i'm not in much to look at them!! My husband knows never to buy me flowers as i'd rather the money got to something more pratical. Artificial flowers is all you will find in my house.

If a woman likes receiving flowers, she enjoys them because they are not practical. It is the thoughtfulness of the man obtaining something for the woman that has no practical value but signifies that he was thinking of her and went a little out of his way to show her that. But - for many women romanticism is about the man's thoughtfulness, attention to detail and appreciation of her, so something with a personal significance to her would be more valuable than flowers, wine, candles, or any other traditional romantic symbol.

Because they are pretty, smell great too, and show the care from the man. Back before flowers could be bought your cabbage and carrots were possibly loved too.Although there is a colorful, flowering cabbage these days. A live plant.

Who says you can't eat flowers?Just kidding, I don't eat flowers (cough cough...) It's the fact that no one really buys flowers for themselves but buying a bag of carrots or cabbage is something you do often for yourself. You want a gesture that makes you feel special (trust me, walking home with a bundle of flowers doea make you feel special)

Exactly, you cant eat them, you cant drink them but you can admire their beauty, smell their aroma, and appreciate their simplicity and freshness. It is also one of things, where if a man buys a woman flowers he does so of out generosity since it has no real value
