|
|
OK. My good friend (love her to death) is having a baby shower where over 100 people were invited!!! When she told me this, I didn't really know what to say...That's craziness. Someone threw me a wedding shower and there were 15 people there. I thought that's how these things went. Only female family and very close friends...I am wrong? Is this normal? I've only actually attended one other baby shower where there were about 40 people. All of the others I have just send a gift because I couldn't attend so I have no idea how many people are invited...so it's all about the presents? of course I'll be there for her, I just think it is in poor taste to hit up everyone you know for a shower gift. I know babies are expensive, but...

my babyshower is being thrown by my mother, all my friends and family are going, the guest list is over 100 people.everyone does things differently!its not in poor taste, and your not hitting people up for gifts, if they dont want to come they dont have to. But most people love helping out a pregnant friend or family member...

depends on the person. At my wedding shower there were 35 people....my cousins baby shower had about 75 people....its all personal preference. Remember sometimes people "bring a friend" they may not be invited but they definitely show up!!

OMG that is outrageous...! My friend is throwing mine and I'll have about 7 people there. But my family lives in a different state so it would be a little bigger but wow! lucky her, lots of stuff she doesn't have to buy. My husband and I bought our own stuff cause we know I'll just get clothes and stuff...

Just go with the flow, and be there for her no matter what. There is no official limit, and i guess the more people invited, the more presents she will recieve. Have fun.

That is a lot of people but it sounds like she must have a large family and lots of friends for it to get to that count! There is no limit on how many people can attend a shower so why not 100 people?? I imagine she won't have to buy anything for the baby for a long time with that many people coming to the shower and bringing gifts!!

there is no normal and who cares it's her shower just go so what if your wedding shower had 15 people some people would consider that small and have 100 therethis just means your friend has alot of friends and family that she cares about and anymore having men at a babyshower is becoming more and more acceptable considering the lines between individual roles of men and women are becoming more and more blurred as women are commenly working outside the home and more and more men are becoming stay at home dad's

She can invite as many people as she want and it's not for you to say that it is crazy so you shouldn't judge for your friend just because she wants to have 100 people at her baby shower

my baby shower was one week ago, and my friend that threw it (with my mom too) i think felt probably just like you because we invited over 100 people and about a little less than 100 came. From her point of view shower's are for women only, but in my culture we include both men and women. Plus me and my boyfriend have many different groups of friends. so we couldn't invite one person without inviting 5 others or so. it's not all about inviting people just so you get a gift (that's why one of our friend's didn't show up. he acted like we were asking for a hand-out). we just really wanted everyone we felt was important to us to be there and celebrate with us that the baby will be here soon. it's only an added bonus that we end up having so many things the baby will need.

100 is simply silly. It is only about gifts and not those close to you regardless of the size of the family. 15 is about right. A few freinds and maybe a friend or two of those invited. It celebrates the occasion. 100 is self serving and tacky in every way.
