I'm fairly crafty and this year I'm making quite a large cross-stitch picture for her Christmas gift. I'll get it framed and everything so it's ready to hang when I give it to her.The problem is, I've been working on this forever and am only about 2/3 of the way done. Of course, we're three weeks away from Christmas and I'm worried I won't be able to get it done on time. We're in the midst of a move and I'm looking for a job, so things are a bit crazy right now. If it's not done, should I just wait and give it to her as a mother's day gift? I really want to give it to her for Christmas because it's been my aim. Is it okay to take a photo of it and give that to her instead? I've been going back and forth on this and don't know what to do. I think I just want the instant gratification of her opening it now because I know she's really going to love it.Any opinions are appreciated!! I'll go with the majority on this one! Thanks so much!

yeah...do your very best to get it done and keep telling yourself it will get done! You have all the reasons in the world Not to finish it but the one reason you have for finishing it is way better. COME on...you can do it, take the challenge and see what you are made of!! Impress yourself! Smile stay up late, get up early, do it while watching T>V> or instead of T>V> whatever you gotta do....JUST DO ITGood LUCK

your mother is going to love the gesture whenever she gets it. Christmas is a good goal, but if not, i'm sure that whenever she gets it, she will think the world of it. Mother's day is a good time. Some people like a spontaneous gift as well.Go with you're heart.

I would say no to the photo. If it isn't done, wait for mother's day. Or maybe even her birthday. Get her something nice just in case you don't finish it. And if you do finish it, then save the back up gift for mother's day.

I would wrap it at whatever point I was at, and enclose a note to be opened first saying "it's still in the works and will be done soon. Just really wanted to wrap it up for you in time for Christmas... So now give it back for a while." (Assuming she has a sense of humor.) Hey, you could even cover up the unfinished part and not let her see that yet... Keep it real and do whatever you already know is right. Good Luck.

If it were me I would buy a backup present and if I couldn't finish it in time I would give that to her and if I did finish it in time I would save the backup for mothers day.

I did the same thing one year for my mom.She purchased this HUGE dining room set so all the adults could sit together while the kids sat at the other table. She was complaining about being able to find a table cloth she liked for the table because it was so big.So around September I finally found one that I could cross stitch, and I changed the color of the threads. (Oh I had to do 12 cloth napkins too) I couldn't get it finished and I wanted her to have it for Christmas.So...I wrapped everthing up very nicely but on top inside the box & I wrote a presonal note and said..Merry Christmas Mom, I hope you like this but I haven't finished it yet. But I am making this just for you, so I will finish it don't fret. Do wrap it and give it to her w/ a note inside that you wanted her to have it at Christmas but you will finish it for her.
