i think boh should get attention, but maybe the mother will be happy if her child gets a good present.

There is nothing wrong with getting your daughter a little something that she needs and doting on your grandson. However, I wouldn't go overboard with him either. He's only a year old so he won't appreciate it and whatever you buy him will be tossed to the wayside very quickly....clothes will be outgrown and toys will be forgotten.

I think that gym shoes are a wonderful idea. They are far more practical then most gifts and she will probably get more use out of them. Also if you buy something a little extra for her son, it might be nice. She may have a hard time buying gifts for him.I don't think that you should spend like $100 on her and $200 on the grandson (especially considering he will grow out of some toys before he really has a chance to play with them). It would be nice if the amounts spent were even.

I had my daughter when I was 18 & ever since then my parents have always spend a good amount on her & not me, I am totaly fine with that & would not want it any other way! After all Christmas is all about the kids having the fun. So I do not think that you would be doing wrong if you get her just one thing & spend the rest on her child. I would think that as a parent she would want it this way as well!Have a wonderful holiday!

Speaking as a mom. I would rather my mom buy gifts for my daughter and not for me. I think buying her the shoes she needs is a good idea and then focus on your grandson.
