No....what is in poor taste is to expect people to give you a gift.Registries are like saying....I don't expect a gift...however if you want to buy me one here are some suggestions.

Absolutely not. People who want to buy you a gift for a major even in your life often want to give you something you truly want or need, not something they hope you'll like. Also, it is easier to know if you would be getting a gift double! No one wants to give you something you already have or have already gotten, especially during a time of your life (like post-wedding or post-baby) when you may be too busy to do a return or exchange.

It's a little iffy. But I think it's only really bad if you tell the guests about the registry without waiting for them to ask. (Mentioning it in a wedding invitation is horribly tacky.)

I, too, have mixed emotions about gift registries. It almost seems as though you're saying, "Buy me stuff." On the other hand, it gives others ideas for gifts when they already want to buy you something. This is especially helpful for co-workers, in-laws, acquaintances, etc. Often times these people do want to wish you well with a gift but have no idea what you would want. What would be bad is if an individual were to feel entitled to receive anything off their registry. Just because a person can view another's registry does not obligate them to buy anything off it. This would be poor etiquette to make assumptions regarding gifts that were given with the best intentions.Overall I think that gift registries are more helpful than not and, in and of themselves, are not in bad taste.

there nothing wrong with a baby shower registry or a wedding registry. its just to avoid getting two things at the same time you might get two strollers at the same time so why not avoid having your guest feeling awkward.sometimes you get stuff you don't really need or ever use.do you worry about feeling bad when you return them to the store.....nopewell good luck and have fun
