10 minutes ago I was looking under my christmas tree. I was crying because I only had two gifts and i knew what both of them were. I was also crying because I can't get the new Verizon Voyager for Christmas..I came into my room to read my email and I had an email that said Christmas Story. It was about a single mother who has children who were abused by their father.. then the father left. She has seven children and no money.. she had to work in a graveyard truck stop place for 75 cents an hour and when christmas eve came around she couldn't afford anything for her children.. A miracle happened and she found boxes of all different shapes and sizes in her old chevy while about to come home and the boxes were filled with just some toy trucks and a doll and then clothes for the children.. When she was able to give her kids these gifts on Christmas day, they acted as though they were the best things in the world.. now I realize how selfish I was to even thing for a minute (cont. below)That I was unlucky or that my Christmas was ruined.. I have five brothers and sisters and we live in a 4 bedroom house together.. we are sort of poor but we can afford the house we live.. I realize now that I am one of the luckiest people in the world and i realize how self absorbed it was for me to think the way I did.. This isn't technically a question, but a mere reminder to the true meaning of Christmas.. to give and receive, and be with those you love.. I get all of that when some people don't get any and now I feel so lucky and happy to be who I am.. This is just a reminder as I said so just post, not only for points (selfishness teheee) but.. to show that you have felt this way too and after reading this you now feel more lucky or something.. share a story, share a memory.. this is officially a Christmas board~!! heheee Post if you feel lucky!Have a wonderful Christmas season!I also want to thank God for that story.. it wasn't just a chain email.. it was a gift.. I read it and I changed my attitude completely.. I would like to thank the Lord for everything he has given me and I feel so happy to be me!! again Merry Christmas to all!

Good for you, remember to do something nice for someone less fortunate every Christmas. Even if its just bringing them dinner one night.

That is funny, I am not even a teen and I have to remind myself how lucky I am for all that I have - 2 wonderful children, a man I am so in love with it's ridiculous, a good job, a nice car. I really wanted a really nice bracelet or necklace for Christmas that I know I will not get - I didn't cry about it - but come on, what more could I ask for?? Thank you - and congrats on your maturity =)

That is really sweet. A similar thing happened to us. I used to always get little things for Christmas and then usually 2 or 3 gifts. I had 5 sisters and 4 brothers. Money was always short and 1 year after my mom and dad split- that very year my mom had no money and she was upset because she got us all presents from the dollar store. Welfare has a program to where one family with enough money sponsors another and these people came like a week before Christmas and you know, Isn't it amazing how everything always works out? I am glad you shared this story. Merry Christmas!

Hon, that was a true story! I read it last year.....and you are very wise to realize all of yoru true gifts in this life! Today we all have so much...we are all very spoiled, kids want everything they see and get most of what they want.....a lot of this idue to commercialism and television! The best Christmas Gift I have ever received was a Light house that cost about $1.00 or so....It is hot Pink and Chartreuse Green, and UGLY! My son was 2, and I was shopping for his older sisters, and putting this and that into the cart....our town was small, and when he ran off for a couple of minutes I wan't too panicy, but when he came back, he had that light house in his little hand, and threw it into the cart! I picked it up and looked at it, and told him....Oh no, honey...we don't need this! I will never forget his next words...he was small enough that mine never phased him, than God! In that little tiny voice, came these sweet little words...".No, Mommy! That's a "Pretty" For you!" Well, I insisted that my husband go to the store that night and buy me that "Pretty" that my son had picked out for me. My son is 24 now, almost 25.....and I am 56..and that "UGLY" Lighthouse sits and has always sat for years in a place of honor among a collection of Carnival Glass and Crystal! It is my most cherished possession, and mybest Christmas Present ever.... for it was truly a gift from the heart, chosen in total innocence and love!
