| love them.i never thought of "i don't know you and don't want to get you something you would like"i'm pretty sure it just means, "you like that store, or restraunt buy yourself whatever you want." they are giving you options instead of just giving you a present. |

| Gift cards are great because if someone doesn't know you they can still give you something you want and not something that you will never use. |

| Depends on the person giving it and the thought behind it. Last year I got my co-workers gift cards to 711 because I know that we all go there quite often. If it's a generic gift card then that's sort of impersonal...I agree with what you are saying. But if it's something unique to that person than I say there okay. I don't think it's EVER okay to get one for a boyfriend / girlfriend, hubby / wife. |

| I think it depends on where the gift card is from. My husband buys me gift cards all the time for victoria secrets and i love it. If he got one from sonic, i would be the only one enjjoyng the victoria secret gift rewards O_o You can also get bed bath and beyond. Just remember its the thought that counts, lol!~Cat~ |

| in the case of the Sonic gift card, yeah that does sound tacky, but if someone gives me a gift card to a store, I like it, I love to shop, it isn't often that it's for myself so with a giftcard I can do it guilt free |

| I'm sorry, but I love Gift Cards. Personal gifts are lovely, but a gift card will allow me to spend it how I want it. Sometimes gifts can be too frivolous, so a gift card can be spent on something I actually need. |

| if it werent for the giftcards i got, i wouldnt have been able to use them so i could buy my husband a $140.00 sweater he saw in the mall, theres no way i could have gotten it for him otherwise! |

| Love em... Then I can go buy what I really want instead of getting some crappy gift that I hate.... But i also understand your hate for gift cards. It is very impersonal and shows that the person just didn't take the time to shop for you, so I guess it goes both ways. |

| well i have a mom and dad thaat has everything and its so had to buy for them becasue if u do its just going to be like something they allready have and that sucks i allways get my mom and dad a gift card for a restarunt but nothing like sonic lol maybe olive garden or red lobster say 50 or 60 bucks |
