I had that same problem. It was real easy to fix. I stopped sending gifts acknowledging birthdays and holidays. Now I don't worry. I sleep great at night.

When I give something I don't expect anything, even repayment, When loaning money I tell them it's gift, not a loan. If you can't afford to lose it, dont loan it because this has ruined good relationsips. I'm sure they feel appreciative but haven't been taught to express it. Just try to remember "your reward comes from God, not man"Blessings Juju

Yes, I've seen this with my grown-up nephews and niece...I always send cards at birthdays and Christmas, and gifts to their children, and have never received a "thank you". I won't stop sending, but it does make you wonder where their manners are. I was talking to their mother ( my sister) recently and she said something about how thoughtless young people are today....I said yes, your kids never thank me for anything ! She was horrified, but I bet nothing will change.

Not going oout of ones way to say thank you is not acceptable. It doesn't have to be a card ( a lost art form) but pick up the phone or drop an e mail. I don''t think I would buy anything else for this person.

My guess is that this person has not been educated in common courtesy. However, I will tell you that my husband and I both have been quite ill since before Thanksgiving and we have Christmas gifts that haven't even been opened, much less acknowledged.

Many people are not taught manners. To expect society to have basic rules is not too much to ask. My grandchildren didn't send a thank you when I felt they were old enough to learn this social skill and I mentioned it to my son. He said 'but they are just little kids and I said when was he going to teach them...in their senior year of high school? I told him he was the one who should do the teaching, they won't think of it on their own.' If I don't get a thank you then off comes their name. I assume my gift is not appreciated nor wanted and I then spend the money on myself.

People are not taking time to thank people. When I mail a person a package and they don't acknowledge it, I keep wondering if they ever got it. If I take time to buy a gift, let me know if you receive it, even if you don't like it.
