Aren't bridal registries just a glamourized way to panhandle for gifts? Explain.?

I don't think so. I mean if you have a friend that is getting married how are you supposed to know what her and the hubby to be wants, you mat know her taste but not his. That makes things difficult. My general rule of thumb is I buy off the registry, but I also buy something that I would have picked out,s o that it shows I did put thouhgt into the couple. Its hard to shop for people especially two people to one gift because they always have different wants and needs.
