| No, I don't think so, sometimes if I know the person very well I know what they want, need, like etc, and if that thing is not on the registry and still an appropriate wedding gift and within my budget then I will buy it. Also there are often things on the registry that are way beyond my budget, and no way am I going to live without food, gas and electric for a month to buy something off the list that is way too expensive, I have never, ever bragged or even told anyone what I have bought a couple, whether it be from their register or not. Gifts are gifts, I think that some couples attitudes to gifts are also rude, they expect guests to spend "x" amount on them without even considering that a guest may have travel and hotel expenses to pay to attend a wedding, and a couple should be grateful for any gift they receive rather than bitching that it is off register. |

| Hi! I must agree! Isn't the point of the registry to give your guests guidelines of what you like and want? I only stick to the registry or give cash. I have never swayed from the registry -- it's so easy too!One little side note: I live in a small town....there are stores here now where brides register. People here are still not that "in tune" with how the gift registry works. (I was born and raised in a major city...so it's a no brainer for me). Anyway, let's say the couple is registered at Target for a certain coffee maker. But the people here say...."well, it's on sale at Walmart so I will just get it there!" So then I have to say, "but they are not registered at Walmart, only Target." Some people just don't get it. |
