is it her first? anything is great if so...from clothes to diapers and wipes...i like to put a group of things that go together:baby wash, lotion, wash cloths and towels, and maybe a cute outfit. something that goes from start to finish...a cute way to package it is in a baby bath tub with a big bow!

Is this your friends first baby? Is she a single parent or married?I always get stuff that you can never get enough of... receiving blankets, face cloths, baby oil, diapers, bibs, sippy cups, spoons, sleepers, and maybe a pedicure or something for mommy!!Hope that helps!

Stick to the registry if there is one, if not, and ask her. You don't want to get her something she already has. Or diapers, you can NEVER have too many diapers...

When i went to my friends shower instead of getting clothes (kinda boring) i got a big basket and filled it with a bunch of little things that she'll need like stuff you tend to forget about but will come in handy once the baby is born. kinda of a creative idea.

I am sure she will get plenty of clothes, blankets, and things like that. Get her something that she can actually use, Diapers are always a good gift, a maybe a gift card to go with it, bottles, things like that will be greatly appreciated.

Ask her to register to a store so she gets what she needs and not too much of one thing. Now you can go online and choose, in her list, the gift in your price range and have it deliver!

I once made this qute center piece for a table out of rolled dippers and bottles. Make it look like a towered cake and tie the layers together with ribbon. You can put little things on it like stuffed animals and pacifiers. So Cute!! Take it to the shower and everyone can see how hard you worked on it.

Oh get her one of those Teddy Bears that has the heart beat like the baby is still in the womb. It is so relaxing for the baby. I bought my cousin one and a good friend and they say it is a lifesaver. They take it everywhere. It also helps to prevent crib death. You can find them at Walmart for around $15.00Get some diapers too or wipes, they are always wanted!

I visited my best friend shortly after she had her first baby. It was a rare moment because her son was actually sleeping. She looked at me and said, "I need to eat, sleep and shower. I haven't been able to do any of those things regularly. But I know I only have time for one of those things before he wakes back up again." She looked exhausted and at her wit's end. So I'm thinking that the gift of your time would be most appreciated. Stop by during that period when the baby's not sleeping regularly yet and offer to watch him for a bit, so she can do whatever she needs to do.

Pampers. You may want to buy her all the cute stuff like those clothes and toys, they wear an outfit like once and babies dont play with toys. I had so much stuff from my shower that I felt bad people spent there money on cause it was only used once but I ALWAYS needed pampers.
