| I read this quite a long time ago, all I can remember are the answers to two questions. Why didn't Wiesel fast on Yom Kippur?-Even though this is one of the most important days in the Jewish religion, Elie had lost his faith in God. After experiencing the torment of the death camps, he no longer saw God in every day life and would rather eat on a day of fasting than starve himself some more for a religion he know longer believes in.Why was Eliezer's father almost thrown from the train?-All the dead passengers were thrown out of trains to make room for more slaves. Elie's father was very weak, the SS soldiers figured he was already dead and wanted to throw him out. However Elie convinced them that he was still alive so he could stay with his father longer.Sorry that's all I could give you. |

He wasn't as religious. Why didn't Wiesel fast on Yom Kippur?--Because he is not as religious, and wants to keep up his strenght. What "fine New Year's Gift" did the SS give the Jews?--IONO.What did Wiesel do to avoid "selection" by Mengele?--He ran as fast as he could, to show how strong he was. What did Akiba Drumer and the rabbi from Poland have in common?--IONO.What did the head of the block have the prisoners do before moving out?--IONOWhat made the move to Gleiwitz so hard?--They had to run 42 miles without stopping. If they stopped, they were shot. How did Zalman die? --IONOWhy was Eliezer's father almost thrown from the train?--Because he was still and appeared to be dead. Elie had to slap him several times to get him to stir.Years later, how was Parisienne's treatment of the "natives" like the Germans' treatment of the starving Jews?--the germans threw in scraps of bread to watch the jews sruggle for a piece, and the lady threw in coins to watch the natives struggle for them. How did Meir Katz save Eliezer?--IONOWhy did Eliezer's father make him wake up when he slept in the shed?--Because many of the people who stopped to rest, never got back up because of the cold and exaustion. What didn't Eliezer tell Rabbi Eliahou?--that his son had purposely lost him in the crowd of running people. |
