|
|
| I am going to a wedding in June. I have to travel about 700 miles and with gas prices so high...it won't be cheap...plus hotel and food. I looked at their gift registries and it is all very very expensive stuff. I just can't afford a pricey gift on top of travel expenses. Any ideas on something really special that won't cost a months salary?FYI: This is for a gay commitment ceremony and they're both in their 40's. |

| In my most candid, honest opinion; under the circumstances, unless you feel really obligated to attend...I would not attend but send a lovely gift along with a letter of regret. Let your heart dictate what to do. |

| That's too bad. If I were your position, I would present the couple with foods. I'll never gift with something that is usual and piled up to carry. If you present them with foods, they may eat the food then and there. |

| You could give a check or gift certificate to their registry store, or department store or online store like Amazon.com where one can buy just about anything. Or if you know another guest or guests, you could chip in with them for a registry item. |

| Get them an "I Do!" gift card. It's a card that can be used online for a collection of gifts specifically geared toward newlyweds, things they might not have already, etc. They pick the gift they want and it comes to their door at no extra charge to them. We were given the "New Arrival" card when we had our baby and I thought it was wonderful because I could pick something I didn't already have, and it seemed more personal than an ordinary gift card, because it's for a specific item instead of a dollar amount. There are more general ones available too if the "I do" is out of your price range.http://djeffords.ordermygift.com/products/product.aspx?itemno=749500B8 |
