I sent her $ to help her get Christmas gifts. She did send an email but is that enough? Do you still write thank you notes or not? it was a gift not a loan.

Oh, my.......!!! Do we "give", just to "get"? NO. Certainly not.! We give, and give, and give, and expect NOTHING in return....in fact, the Bible teaches, to Give...AND HOPE for Nothing in return!! Otherwise....one is not really giving at all from the heart, but can appear to be somewhat of a "payoff".You're not like that, are you? of course not!! We never know, just what another person is going through........we never know what it is they may be having to cope with or deal with at the "time" we might [unfortunately choose to] "expect" something. To have any expectations in the journey of life in front of you, will always bring tides of "disapointment" for you, so, be wise, and give from the heart while hoping for nothing in return...and guess what? You might just be pleasantly surprised. Always look for the best in people, never focus on their shortcomings, because, guess what?....you, and I and most of us, all make the same mistakes at SOME point in our own lives. So, forgive and forget...let it go, let it drop, and be a good kind friend......and you may be surprised at lifes rewards.

An e-mail saying thank you can be considered a thank you note these days. At least she wrote to say thank you.

I still send thank you cards. Many people today are so used to e-mailing and texting that it's become commonplace instead of a formal card or letter. Your friend did say thank you and I certainly wouldn't lose a friend over it. If she is really tight on money she may not have thought to spend it on a card and a stamp. Ok - I know it's only a few dollars! You are an awesome friend for gifting her the money and she must appreciate it because she did send you an e-mail.

It is better to give than to receive. God will give you something good in return, so you should not be mad at your friend.
