I've also read in encyclopedias that most of Christmas customs did not orginate with christianity but with other religions. Does it bother any of you christians that Christmas is tainted with different religious customs. And beside most people like christmas because of the gifts, they could care less about its a celebration of Jesus' birth.

I have always liked Easter better than Christmas, for as long as I can remember, and that's a long time. |

I think all the celebrating and traditions, no matter what their origins were, help to keep the Christmas season alive and well which keeps the meaning of Christmas in the forefront of societys mind. They make me happy. They make my family happy. They are ways to bond with each other and share in fun traditions. How is that against Christ in any way? I love the Christmas season.Easter just doesnt have as many traditions associated with it and you really dont shop for it so it doesnt need to extend longer. You need a month to shop for everyone. You only need a day to pick up some candy. But I agree Easter doesnt get as much love as Christmas.

Jehovah's Witnesses do not celebrate Easter or Christmas. They have pagan origins. Jesus only said to commemorate his death, which occured on Passover. That's usually the same week as Easter, but usually a different day.

You're right. Strictly speaking, Easter is the greatest Christian holiday. But I think the attention to Christmas is due mainly to the general "Christmas season" and everything that goes along with it. Does it bother me that Christmas is tainted with other religious customs? Not really. We have a Christmas tree, even though that's a pagan thing. Doesn't bother me.

how can someone die if they aren't born?My family places more serious recognition of religious aspects on Easter- Fasting, and such than Christmas. Christmas is the celebration of things that are beginning to change.Easter is recognized very seriously in many household, but it is a solemn occasion, and is therefore much calmer than Christmas.

Because the current incarnation of Christmas is an Secular American concept taking the Yule celebrations and making it a national holiday because the US needed holidays, and it's generally embraced as an all purpose mid-winter feast and celebration.Eostre probably doesn't mind you guys celebrating with the Technicolor hen fruit though, that's cool with her.

why is any emphasis placed on either of them since Christmas is a pagan holiday honoring the son of Isis and Easter is a pagan feast honoring the goddess Ishtar (you should research the origins of the eggs- eye opening!)Jesus, before His death was observing Passover with his disciples- the very feast God gave His people to honor Jesus , to paint a picture of our redemtion through His death , burial and ressurection- it is a perfect, untainted feast ordained by God - when Jesus said to remember his death- He was only reiterating what God already told His people- keep and observe the Passover- it is a true and sanctified feast- both Christmas and Easter , even the way they are observed today, very closely mirror the original rituals and practices revolving around these ancient pagan feasts- they are both filthy feasts of the flesh and do not honor God in any form or fashion.

Easter is definitely the superior feast. But I'm afraid that Christmas has it beat on the gifts angle.

Christmas was not tainted by other religions - it is firmly the other way round!!!!Christianity deliberately stole both Christmas ans Easter from pagan religions and tried to force their religion on them!!!It really is funny to see Christians ignoring the birth and death of their Savior to worship pagan festivals!!!

Its cause people like happy holidays better. I didn't really know Christmas had different religious customs, because I follow the essence of Christmas. Actually, alot of religions have the same symbols, e.g fire= purity/purification, water=life etc. I think that you should read up on it. a good place is www.creationontheweb.com
