It would only be petty, if it was his smoking that bothered you. You say it doesn't, and that's good. You should accept him if he does, or doesn't. Now, it is not petty for him to treat you like dirt. You both want to be in a relationship, where gifts are being bought and received now. Problem is, if he's only willing to do the receiving, then he should not receive you either. It sounds like you are taking a back seat to his friends, and you are there as a convenience for him. Well, next time he wants you there, don't be there. Move on to someone who is willing to respect you.
