Hi guys,I am currently conducting a study on the general perception of Gift Cards and whether they are an effective gift option. If you have time it would be really helpful if you could complete the short survey from this link....its litterally 6 questions and will take 30 secs at most!!http://www.my3q.com/home2/223/payzone/66990.phtmlThanks for your help!

I've filled in your survey. No I would not pay a fee for a gift card. That's cutting into the budget I have to spend on the person so I wouldn't be able to put as much money on the gift card for them to spend. If shops are going to start charging a fee for people to buy a gift card, that's just greedy. If fees were introduced I would not get gift cards - I'd just give a person cash instead.

No way - Why pay £55 for a £50 product. In fact, it should be the other way around, since the £50 HAS to be spent at their store. So they are the ones getting a benefit.

Ok done your survey thingy...but you should have more options for people who don't buy these things....I had to tick the £5 box as there wasn't a £0 box..But basically I think they are a rip off and more trouble than they are worth....a lot tie you into certain products...certain retail outlets...you either have to spend more to get the full value of the gift or lose the difference as all stores complain about giving change...consumers don't know their rights when it comes to gift tokens, credits etc....so the store staff either try it on or are equally as dense as the customer....Maybe you should do another survey asking whether people would prefer to receive a token or just the cash...

I've filled it in. I agree with Dave S. They should give you a discount for using their shop. My daughter still has one from Christmas, she keeps mythering me to get something so I can give her the cash. I've been to the shop today and they still don't have anything I like.

Completed your survey. Have bought Gift Cards as it often seems as if you have put just a little more effort in than giving cash. However, gift cards can be restricting and often in the big Department Stores you are paying over the odds for example electrical items which would be much cheaper at Argos or TJ Hughes. I mentioned electrical specifically with Wedding Gift Cards in mind. If you had to pay for the gift cards out of principal I would not purchase them. After all you are literally handing the store customers on a plate.
