That is a wonderful and useful gift(s)! I did almost the exact same thing for my cousin when she was pregnant with her first child and she loved it! Good Idea.

Sounds great. A couple of baby blankets would also help and sleepers if you can afford to buy them.

Perhaps replace the sippy with a bottle. The child most likely won't be using a sippy for close to a year and the bottle will be used sooner. Other than that it sounds good to me. Perhaps a wash cloth to go with the towel and maybe a comb/brush... like make it a 'bath' basket or something.

Sounds lovely - a friend did something similar for my daughter. You might like to add some nipple shields and nipple cream if your friend is planning to breast feed. My daughter found those two items invaluable!

I think in between these gifts you should add a few products for the new mum such as some nice bubble bath, some chocoalte, maybe a nice dvd such as the notebook- just to remind her to take some "me" time. Sounds like a lovely gift.

my mom does something similar for baby showers. she takes a cothes basket and fills it with random stuff that the new parents may need. go through the baby aisles and pick out things u kno they will need. not stuff for the baby to play with, stuff the parents will need. diapers are always welcome to baby showers. ALWAYS.
