A guy in a relantionship,giving away a gift to another grl...could that be a red flag?

My bestfriend has a boyfriend who gave another grl a teddybear for a graduation gift. But his grlfriend n dat grl had had problems in the past. and the grl who got the gift likes my bestfriend's boyfriend n he knows it, by the way dey work together. not to mention my friend found this out by going through his fone and the grl had wrote in a txt msg " thnx u so much i love the teddy bear and i love u!" but he didn't say i love u bak. my friend is very worried has been w/da guy for almost 2yrs. I dnt know wat to tell her? should she worry? or is nutin? just a way of him getting attention from that grl to make him feel good. HELP?
