my son's best friend's 4th birthday is coming up towards the end of june. Was wondering if it's appropriate to use christmas wrapping paper to wrap his birthday presents? Some are edible gifts with expiration dates and one of the gifts is a homemade pie that will be made the day before the birthday party (I will write on there when it was made). All the wrapped gifts will be stuffed in a large homemade gift bag (made out of grocery paper bag).We have LOTS of christmas themed gift wrap that's been sitting in the closet for years and would like to use it. Do you think it's appropriate? Do you think they would mind since it will be unwrapped anyway?Edit: the mom is a perfectionist and I don't want her judging the gifts because of the christmas themed wrapping paper. If i bought newspapers, I would use those too. If I had stamps, I would turn them inside out and stamp all over them but then again, stamps do cost.We are kinda in a budget right now too.Sappy- merry xmas to you too lolzzz

If I were you instead of wrapping each gift individually and using Christmas paper I would just use the grocery bag you mentioned and wrap each thing loosely in white tissue paper. It's timeless (seasonless) and the kids love yanking and flailing tissue paper about. Then you don't have to worry about the whole Christmas paper issue.

LOL, ya go ahead! I've done that lots of times. The kid won't care and the parents have probably done it before too, so they won't be offended. And so what if they are.....they should be thankful you're getting such a nice gift for their son.Merry Christmas!EDIT: screw what that mom thinks......like i said, she should be thankful. moms should stick together, not judge one another because of some frickin wrapping paper! sheesh!

I only do that for my own family, meaning only for myself, my husband or our own children we use Christmas paper in a pinch. For anyone else I would go and get a cheap roll, you can get that at the $ store even. A good idea I read in a magazine to get rid of old Christmas paper is to let the kids color or draw on the back side of it. It also is fun to have such a large piece. It is great for watercolors. I think it is a little tacky to use Christmas paper, but honestly I am sure the kid would not care.

Do you have a dollar store near you? Or you can use the wrapping paper but put the decorated side inside so you only see the white on the back.

there's a saying that everyone has heard "it's the thought that counts." the gifts are going to get unwrapped anyway and probably be thrown in the trash instead of recycling them. it's the gifts that they're going to use- not the wrapping paper itself. you said the edible presents have expiration dates on them and you will write on the homemade pie when it was made.if your son's friend's mom is a perfectionist and wants everything to be perfect, including the wrapping paper itself, then she is only thinking about herself and not her son.for me, I would be happy if someone gave me a gift on my birthday or christmas or what have you. i don't care if the present is wrapped in toilet paper for corn's sake or paper bags, if I could use the gifts, then that's what counts and I love homemade desserts and edibles.I love food.I would love to have you as a friend! go on wrap them up in christmas paper. everyday is christmas !

What I did was double up on the paper so the pattern is facing inward. Wrap it up that way, then give your child some markers and stickers and let them have at it. This saves you any embarrassment and is a creative cheap way to wrap.
