Very, I never raised a hand to any of my children and they are very well behaved. Throw the paddle away.

I think it's kind of funny, and it's not that you have to use it on your kids if you think that spanking your kids is wrong.

Not that I agree with the choice of gift, but could they possibly have meant this as a joke? Even so, it was definitely in poor taste.

I hope you don't take offense to this but it sounds like that was there way of saying your children need some discipline. They may be a little more old fashion and think that a spanking cures everything and you may think that talking to your children work better. Don't let this cause a problem for your family.

I think so. Hopefully it was just a bad joke. Spanking with you hand is one thing but using a paddle is in my mind wrong. Paddles are weapons and not to be used on children.Yeah- lilbit I meant to give you a thumbs up- but my daughter moved the mouse and I accidently gave you a thumbs down- sorry

depends on what you believe about spanking. If you don't believe you need spanking as a parenting tool, then you don't need the paddle.the bottom line is what are your own personal principles about parenting and are they working?

Goodness me. Yes it's inappropriate. And outdated. They might be trying to tell you that you should discipline your children more, but that's not really their choice....
