I'm going to be hosting a baby shower this week on the 6th (Sunday) at 2pm...Their will be exactly 12 adults and 7 children, I'm going to be announcing the baby name, Recieving gifts (I hope lol.) I was also thinking of doing a barbeque, and pink balloons because it's a girl? Have you got any good ideas?...and any tips on entertaining both the children & adults?

Congratulations on your little girl! I'm expecting a little boy in September and I am too excited! My baby shower will be July 26th. That being said, I too have been doing a lot of brainstorming on decor, food, games, etc. Here's some of the ideas that I think would work for you:Food ideas:Since you're having a little girl I think pink lemonade is a must (after all, who doesn't like lemonade and who doesn't like pink). I'm baking sugar cookies for the little kids and I'm going to have icing already made for decorating. In addition to the icing, I'm having sprinkles, m&ms, etc. for decorating. The children at the shower will get to decorate their own sugar cookies for their "goodie bag." I got baby shower themed cookies cutters too. So, there will be binky's, rattles, rubber ducks, bottles, etc. Game ideas:My little sister (she's LOVES the idea of helping out with the baby. After all, she's such a big girl now Anyway, I'm purchasing baby food: apple sauce, pears, bananas. The children at the shower will then pair up with adults (the ones that are willing to participate) for a little game of "guess the food." The adults will be blind folded and the children will be feeding the adults the baby food. The adults have to guess what's what. I'm making a "book" for my new baby so I'm having each of the children at the shower decorate a page for the book (kids like to make things). They can write a sweet note to the baby and/or draw a picture. After the shower I will have the book bound and placed in the baby's nursery. Adults can participate in this too by writing a sweet note to your little one. You can add pictures from your shower, an extra invitation, or whatever you like to personalize your book.I hope this helps! |

I don't know if it's cool and I'm sure it's not new, but we played baby pictionary and baby taboo at an adult-child baby shower recently (we chose words related to babies, including fairly funny ones to draw or give hints for like projectile vomiting, lol), and everyone had a good time. We also painted onesies with fabric paints, and the adults and kids were equally into it.

Im not sure how this would work for you but we had belly painting at my cousins baby shower. Each child got to paint their belly for a prize. It was kind of fun to watch them attempt to paint their bellies in the mirror. And the best painting got a prize. The draw back is it is kind of messy. My cousin requested swim suits on the kids and had a pool set up for cleaning off and having fun for the kids.

My baby shower was done like a rap party.......................... You know thats a rap.... To be admitted you had to bring one package of pampers new born diapers. The pinatta was stuffed with rubber ducks that had numbers written on the bottom, and those candies that look like baby bottles. Depending the duck number was joined up with the party gift, all differant, and just as nice. The pinatta thing was done just before the party ended. Every body got a cup cake that was shaped like a ticket, its said addmitted one baby girl. I had one of those kiddie pools at my baby shower for the toddlers did really go with theme but kept them entertained. For the older kids, they got to know the baby's name before the adults, and pass out the balloons with the letters on them. In a messy order, and help send the adults in the right direction. They loved that. One team helped with first name the other team helped with the middle name, and the winners got a special prize. Everybody who broght a package of wipes, was allowed to come to the hospital right after the baby was born.I didnt tell anyone this or they all would have brought wipes. This allowed me get wipes, and keep a reasonable amount of people at the hospital.I didnt want loads of people at once there. There was a diaper race, the kids raced to diaper a baby doll, winner recieved a first place ribbon.I bought cheap store brand diapers for this. The ribbon was bought at the dollor store. People guessed how many hours of labor I would be in,they also guessed based on how big I was how much the baby would weigh. The winners of that would be annoced after the baby was born, and that was the 2nd group to be able to come to the hospital. The people who won the game to be abe to go to the hospital first, wasnt allowed to play the game mentioned. part of the party favors for the adults was hand sanitizer,to each hand sanitizer a note was note attached (Dont forget to clean your hands because babies dont like a germy man) A game for the children was also to be able to guess what chocolate treat was melted in the diaper. For every answer they got right they were given that peice of candy. Hope this helps

Sounds like you have a good event underway! The kids can draw a picture of what they think the baby may look like. You can also have them guess what the baby's name will be (give them a small hint maybe or even a list of names with the correct name in there) and give a prize for the right guess. At my baby shower the handed out small pink note cards that were decorated with flowers and butterflies and each parent wrote their best piece of advice on there and my mom made a book out of all of them. It was a sweet gesture. For food you can do fruit trays and BBQ is an awesome idea for a summer party. I hope you have a great time and I sincerely wish you the best with your daughter.-Add-Ok...I don't see why I was thumbed down. I was only trying to be genuinely helpful.
