I want to get my mother in law a gift as a thank you. She watched my daughter for 4 days and refuses to take money. My daughter is a year old. It can't be very expensive, just a little something that is really nice and show her our appreciation.

A bunch of flowers? Or just have her over to your house and cook dinner for her? Or simply a thank you card could say it all.

You have already given a mother-in-law the greatest gift of all--a granddaughter. Try cooking her a brilliant dinner or go clean her house or run errands for her when she is to busy to go herself.

How about a picture of your daughter nicely framed and a note telling her how much you care for her and appreciate all she does.

How about a small gift card to her favorite store or restaurant? Or make her a favorite dessert or breakfast bread... Most parents don't really expect much!

I think making a dinner is nice. My girls (7 & 9) absolutely love it when we do this for my parents or my in laws. We make dinner or breakfast whatever and we make menu's from construction paper with categories, even if vege's only have one choice it is fun. I write them and they trace with a marker. We usually name our restaurant and hang a sign on the door the parents will be entering. Have a menu for everyone and they take the order (with a towel on their arm even though we have never been to a restaurant where they do that LOL), I dish it and they serve it, and we set the table nice and let them pick the centerpiece even if it is an odd one LOL. My dad loved it so much he saved the menu.Even at 4 your daughter can help a lot, we started doing this when my youngest was around that age. Even if you write it all in and she just decorates it with pictures or stamps or something.
