It's your wedding: register for whatever you want and need!

Register for a wide price range of things and let the guests choose which is most appropriate for them.

no. or at least the stores don't think it's a bad idea since they include things like laptops, flatscreens, etc in the wedding registry guide. unfortunately, we didn't feel comfortable asking for those.

It will probably raise some eyebrows. Couples usually register for things like sheets, towels, cookware.A computer? Seems a bit out of order.

Hmmm. It's seems a little inappropriate. I always thought wedding gift registries were for household items like dishes, small appliances, linen, etc....

You can register for whatever you want. Since a computer is really pricey, especially for a wedding present, your guests may feel that you're greedy.

Well no, BUT its doubtful anyone would have that kind of money. What about asking for money instead then you could pull it all together and just buy one?!

It's a bit weird, and sounds a bit greedy. Wedding gifts are usually things that a couple can share, like linens, dishes, small appliances, etc. To me, a computer is a more personal thing that won't really be shared.

Registering for a computer, or asking for cash as one response suggested- would both be very inappropriate.

No register for what you want, but that is a pricey one. You might want to register for a gift card at the computer store or gift certificate, that way you don't put people out for asking for such an expensive gift.
