|
|
I can afford $50-$100 for a baby shower gift. This my old skool best friends second child (her first was a girl) and now she is having a boy. We are the same age, both in our mid 20's, and I have no idea what to get her!I spent over an hour browsing through all of the baby items at the store, and wasnt sure if I just should just go with:1.) An outfit from head to toe?2.) 2 packages of 100 diapers for when the baby is 2-5 months old, along with 2 huge packs of wet wipes, and 2 packages of 'throw away' liners, for when she is changing the baby. Sounds like a lot but it didnt really look like it, and it totaled $70bucks.I am totally open to suggestions. Please help! PS: remember its her second child so she may have left overs, and when I asked her, she said she didnt register, and didnt give much help. Thanks :)PS Im not a mom yet, so I dont know first hand what to supply her with. |

| Throw away liners are for cloth diapers, not disposables. The best gift I've ever gotten was a baby sling. A Maya Wrap costs about $50 and comes with a DVD that shows her how to use it. |

| Im in the same boat. I had a girl and now am havin a boy!! I have some things left over but not that much...it was all girl themed. Diapers ALWAYS handy!!! Either sex! Is she breast or bottle feeding? She may need new bottles or a some new toys for the baby. Clothes are great too considering she doesnt have any boy clothes but people usually buy clothes before anything else. go with what she needs. so diapers sound good!! and then maybe throw in some boy onesies! good luck!! |

| she probably will get lots of clothes. I would say a mobile, baby bath tub (they cost $15-$30) , or rattle, (which you can find for $2 at walmart), maybe a crib set, like with the sheets, bumpers and blankets. and something small that she could enjoy. Diapers are always nice but babies are different. Some stay in the newborn size for a few months and some are born into size1. |

| If she is having another baby shower and didn't register, more than likely she will be getting a TON of boy clothes and diapers.don't do the diapers and wipes....to me, it is not very personal.Do you know the name of the boy yet? If you do, a personalized blanket or picture frame would be nice. How about a wooden toy chest or a wooden rocking horse? Or some older "boy" type toys for when he is older (6 months +), like some cars, trucks, etcOr, you could get her a gift certificate to a local photography studio to get pictures taken of her new addition |

| Diapers! She'll definitely need them and she'll get plenty of outfits (not to mention that she can use some of her daughter's hand-me-downs.) |

| You could make her a diaper cake! It's not a real cake, but everyone, especially the mom to be, will be super impressed. You take a couple packs of diapers, and roll them up to form a cake. You decorate it however you want, and stick lots of littel other things in there, like baby wash, diaper cream, etc. They can be little things that stick in the diapers. Check out these links - they are so cute, so personalized, and such a big hit at showers!http://entertaining.about.com/cs/showers/a/diapercake.htmhttp://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y235/yourdiaperdayz/DiaperCakes274.jpg&imgrefurl=http://blogs.ebay.com/yourdiaperdayz/entry/No-bids-yet-1-CENT-Diaper-Cake-Auction/_W0QQidZ157961016&h=800&w=753&sz=276&hl=en&start=4&um=1&tbnid=eRFNWK6_5PF_BM:&tbnh=143&tbnw=135&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddiaper%2Bcake%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26rls%3Dcom.microsoft:en-us:IE-SearchBox%26rlz%3D1I7ADBS%26sa%3DN |

| diapers are great, but as this is her 2nd child she prob has a brand that she prefers....why not go with a nice backpack style diaper bag that will be big enough for her to get all she needs in it for her, baby, and other kid..i have a NICE one by eddie bauer....it needs to have a little changing pad in it and something to hold bottles if she is using them (some place with straps will hold them); several pockets are nice too..somewhere she can stick wallet and car keys, cell phone..then you could fill it with a passy pocket (if she uses them); nice bath blanket set, (girly!) a big bottle of gentle baby wash , i like johnson and johnson--wouldn't go with the smelly, might not agree with baby skin, though it does smell great! a big thing of desitin or zinc oxide for diaper rash, or a few if you can't find a big one, a baby care kit such as a girly hair brush for babies that also has baby clippers, etc,and a girly baby book, i like the looseleaf ones where you can also add in pages, i know babesrus has a gender neutral one that is really neat......another thought...if she doesnt' have it....i LOVE my diaper genie 2..some complain that it doesnt hold in the odor, have to buy refills, etc...but it is WORTH it, we leave ours in nursery until it is full, and you can not smell a thing until we change it, and as soon as it is changed, no more smell....you could get her one of those at walmart, they sell the cheapest refill rings that i know of at about 5 a piece...you could get the genie and fill it for a box/basket with refills.....or a combo of both since you have a pretty flexible budget...and being a mom of 2, i would def go with a sturdy backpack style, much easier than fighting a shoulder bag with 2 little ones....either way, i would offer up the receipt in case she needs something else more, or wants to trade it for something...i would just say, ' here's the receipt just in case you need it'; i got stuff at my shower that i had probly ten of bc no one looked at the registry; i was so thankful to the ones who gave me the receipt and gave me the option of getting something useful or keeping something i would never use...and stay away from bottle warmers, they suck...one other thing i loved....gift cards....she can buy what she needs that she didnt' get at her shower, or diapers, wipes, etc..whatever she wants...get one at her favorite baby store, or any big baby store, or even a walmart or something; a friend got me one for target, and i have never shopped there, so i had no idea what to use it for, ended up buying a great gate that i couldn't find anywhere else!! good luck, she will appreciate whatever you get her, especially that you put so much thought into it....oh and if u go with the bath thing, maybe some really cool bath toys, no rubber duckies...they make a turtle toy that tells the temp of the water, all kinds of things, have fun |
