The gift laws I know will change soon and I'm not even sure what they are right now. Any web sites would be helpful as I know its complicated

Here you go: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p950.pdfThe only significant pending changes are reductions in the maximum Gift Tax rate from 45% to 35% for 2010 and then a return to the old max rate of 46% after Dec 31, 2010. That may well be changed by Congress. They can change the law at any time.

irs.gov, goodaccountants.com, or there is also an article which is quite detailed at rojascpa.com/2008_gift_tax_planningThe amounts have changed, but I would expect major changes later this year.
