I just had a baby shower I am due August 7th and unfortunately instead of people buying me gifts focused towards the fall season, everyone purchase tons, of summer clothes which I am thankful but I know my baby will not be able to wear them all, because fall will be right around the corner.. the hardest part is that no one gave me gift recipets for any of them.. any suggestions or am I just stuck with all these summer clothes?another thing is, all of them are in gift bags so it doesnt even have the store names on them. So i dont know what stores half of the gifts came from.. I was wondering if I can go online to the stores I was registered at and look under brand to get an idea of where some of the clothes come from, for example Walmart carries Garanimals, Gerber etc.

You could atleast try to trade in the clothes for fall styles. Most stores will let you get store credit and trade the items without a reciept. If not, then you could sell them or just wait to use them.

Try to take them back to the places you registered at - they should have your registry on file and will most likely do it for you and give you store credit.

If you know where your guest usually shops, you could try to return it there, but no guarantees. Or just go around to every store trying to return stuff

if you know where they were purchased the store should take them back for merchandise credit, unfortunately you will likely get less than they were originally purchased for if any of the items were recently on sale at the store. your other option is to sell them on eBay, for good new clothing you can generally do well.if you don't feel funny about it you can always ask if the givers have the receipts still too

As long as you know where they got it from and the tags are still on the clothes you shouldnt have much of a problem. The store will just give you store credit which is better than nothing. If you cant return certian items you always take them to a resale store and they will give you cash, not the face value but atleast half. Best of luck to you and congrats on the baby! Most stores will allow you to exchange them for merchanidse or store credit. They won't give you cash back for the purchase, but you can at least exchange them for other clothes more appropriate for the season.

Thats tough. look at the tags, hopefully they give an indication of where they came from, you can take them there for store credit/exchange them.if not try posting all the others on ebay "new with tags" sells well!

If you recognize the brand name you can return them at the store they came from. Unfortunately, at some stores like Kohls they will give you the last known sale price for that item, not necessarily what the person paid for it. If you don't know the store then do a Google search on that brand and you should be able to narrow it down.Second, if all else fails. Take them to a baby consignment store. You won't get full value but for new with tags items they compensate fairly well. And if you take store credit it's usually 10% more.

Try to exchange for store credit at stores where they were purchased if they still have the tags on them

I'm kinda in the same boat except in relation to size and not seasons since I live in a warmer climate. I am expecting a large baby and most of the clothes I received are 0 - 3 months in size - or fit up to 8 pounds. One very generous person got me SO many outfits in this size and then promised to send the gift receipts since they live about 2 hours away, but the shower was about 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received the gift receipt even though I know they already got my thank you card. I think most of the stuff I received came from Target or Walmart. If you have these stores locally, I would go to both to see if you can find the outfits and then if you do find them, just try to take the clothes back and see if they will give you store credit (or exchange for anything they will let you like blankets, diapers, etc.). I'm going to have to try this myself, but just haven't yet found the time. Good luck and congratulations!

I work at Wal*Mart, if any of the items are from Wal*Mart you can return them without a receipt to get store credit. They'll give you a Wal*Mart gift card that you can use to buy what you need. (Just let them know that the items were purchased for your baby shower, if it's over $50 a Customer Service Manager will have to approve the return. I am a CSM and I always approve baby shower returns, so you shouldn't have any problem.)Target has a very strict return policy, you have to have a receipt to return anything there. And I'm not sure about Babies R Us return policy. If you don't know where the items were purchased, try taking them to Wal*Mart, they'll be able to tell you if they came from there.Ohh, I almost forgot. At Wal*Mart, diapers are only exchangable for other diapers. Good Luck!!
