I am just finishing up a summer internship at a prestigious wealth management firm. I am the intern for a financial advising group of five and want to show my gratitude for granting me this opportunity. There are 3 female sales assistants ranging from there early 20s to early 30s. One of the financial advisers is female and in her low 30s and the other is male in his late 40s. Any ideas on an appropriate and thoughtful gift? I’m especially having trouble with the older financial advisers (because they have so much money I don’t want to give them a gift with solely a monetary value). I am already planning on writing handwritten cards for each of them. For the sales assistants, I was thinking a Starbucks gift card, a candle, flowers, or those philosophy body washes. I am also still underage--so I ruled out wine or scotch. Please let me know any specific or broad suggestions. Thanks!

Since these are ppl with a lot of money why don't you make a donation to some charity and get a donation certificate for them? If you want something more personal i would suggest something for their office, since you know where they work maybe think about something practical they might wanna have and use... like those cool clips with light or a clip that is also a clock and looks pretty fancy...

They easily can think back to when they were starting out, perhaps as an intern just like you. With that said, do not go overboard, it will be on the verge of insulting. With the older ones, just go to target and buy some interesting glass dish / jar and fill it with candy and put it on their desk. That, with a nice card filled with sincere thoughts, will go a long way.If you truly made a connection, you will keep in touch with them; if not, it's business.

A gift is unnecessary. Write a thoughtful thank you note.

I know you want to look proper and professional and all... but i really don't think the gift is necessary.... stick with the cards.
