A couple of friends of mine are getting married soon, and I need to get them a present, so I'm making them a honeymoon basket. They're going to New York, Venice and the Bahamas, so any ideas what I could put in it (necessities, travel guides, that sort of thing)?

suntan oil, travel guides, map, journal, stamps for postcards, gift cards for things they may need like rental cars, etc. , beach towels. If you like silly things, put in 2 apples ( new york is the big apple) a book on pasta dishes ( venice) and flip flops or a recipe for the drink " sex on the beach" for the Bahamas. Smile

- Find out where they are going to be staying and get a voucher for a day spa or dinner for two at a nice restaurant near to their hotel.- A moleskin diary (www.moleskine.co.uk) or a really lovely travel journal or something similar.- A travel wallet to keep all their items together.Maybe find something a little naughty but not too tacky and add it in. Like a tube of chocolate sauce or something like that. This site has some great little ideas - www.ciaobellatravel.com.auYou could pop it all into a "just married" tote (www.bridalpeople.com/honeymoon/5690.asp)Enjoy shopping!

Why not gift them luggage....two suitcases or trolleys...or whatever you feel like. Every time they pack they'll remember you...so make sure they are of good quality. You can also throw in a pair of bathrobes, towels, beach-slippers, etc if you like.

Im sure they already have the essentials like sunscreen and travel guides, people usually like to choose their own brands for those sorts of things. And dont forget, the luggage restrictions are stiffer these days, so dont choose something too heavy. They probably want to pack light so they can bring some souvenirs home.I like the suggestions of the other posters: extra memory card for their camera (soooo useful), extra rechargeable battery for camera is also great, a Moleskin travel diary, maybe a surprise bottle of champagne waiting for them at their hotel, a medium-sized duffle bag which can be packed into a suitcase, then taken out and filled with souvenirs for the way back.

A couple of books (novels or nonfiction, not travel guides) and magazines for the airplane. His and hers sleep masks for napping on the go. Snacks - candy, granola bars, etc - that can be carried easily.

If you're looking for a sweet and creative gift , these personalized soaps from http://www.soapcard.com should do the trick. they make soaps with your photo or just message embedded inside. I got one for my boyfriend and he loved it. You can write all kinds of funny stuff.... My boyfriend thought it was super cute! .the "Think of me when you're feeling dirty" soap was the one he loved the most:)
