I am looking for a good Christmas Gift for my niece who will be 2 months old at that time. She obviously will be too young to care if I buy toys or clothes so I plan to make it more of another babyshower type gift. The parents don't have much money, so the gift needs to be useful. Their other daughter is 7, so they gave everything away from her. I am looking for something unique that will make life easier for the family...I considered the Bumbo seat but am not sure if it is worth the money considering the short amount of time that it is safe for the baby. I already bought a portable crib w/ bassinet for the shower gift. We buy gifts for everyone under the sun, so I am only looking to spend $30-$40. Any ideas/suggestions?

Do you have any other siblings that would go in on a gift with you? If so, I recommend the Fisher Price Rainforest Jumperoo ~$70.Something in your price range that would be useful is a booster seat (can be used from first solids until 2-3 years old). They can skip the bulky high chair and just strap a booster to one of their kitchen chairs. Here's a great one: http://www.amazon.com/Fisher-Price-Healthy-Care-Booster-Seat/dp/B0000DEW8N/ref=cm_lmf_tit_3_rsrsrs0

Be practical, her parents will thank you for it. Your right she is too young to care either way. But if money is tight splurge in a practical sense where her parents are able to... For instance I LOVE the Aveno lavender baby lotion, its expensive so I only buy when on sale. Get them things they will use, daily. Especially after christmas money will be tight...er. By the way, I finally got a Bumbo after my 4th and wish I would of splurge on it after my 1st. It SAVED me many times! My baby used to be the meal time centerpeice. He loved to sit in the middle of the table as we ate. He thought we were all talking to him and I could finally enjoy a meal. Probably not something they would purchase but they will love it for the short time it is used...Go for it!!!

I agree with the booster seat idea. Not sure if the baby already has a highchair, but I'd take a booster seat over a highchair anyday!

If the parents are not well off I would give them gift card. that way they can choose what they want. If you buy a preset and its not what they need they may feel awkward asking you to change it

www.cradlebums.etsy.comThey have all kinds of great baby shower gifts. It is so cool that their baby stuff is trendy and unique- way better than anything you might find at a regular old store! My personal opinion- is the diaper clutch! Its a small bag with a wristlet attached that fits a few diapers and a wipes case. I did not have one of these with my first child, but I do now with my second. It really makes things so much easier. The diaper don't end up wadded up at the bottom of your diaper bag! And you don't have to haul around a big luggage bag just to go to the store!!
