I have $50 in gift cards for home depot and $100 in gift cards for Best Buy. I don't want any of them and I need cash today. I was thinking of going to these stores and waiting by the register til someone buys that amount and pays in cash and asking them if they will trade but I feel weird about it. I feel like if I approach someone I don't know they will get freaked out and think I'm homeless or trying to scam them. I don't want to come across like this and I don't want to be thrown out of the store. I was thinking of flirting with a cashier and asking her if it's ok if I hang out near her til someone pays cash.Don't want to sell online because I need the money today!

I understand this completely! I hate when people give you a gift card to a store you don't need anything from, and then a big bill comes in that you need cash for.Call the store and ask - sometimes you only have to make a small purchase and you receive the change back in cash.If not, a lot of people sell gift cards on Ebay. You normally lose about 10 - 20% of the value, but it will save you feeling like a stalker at the cashier's desk! Good luck!

BAD idea to wait at a register. You will become suspect as having stolen cards. Are you willing to accept this kind of risk? How do you prove you did not steal the cards? The purchaser can redeem the card, at least that is what the law says in my state of WA. Also, in WA, most gift cards can not expire in spite of what it says on the card (however in some circumstances they can depending on the method used for purchase). In WA, these cards are equivalent to cash, and like cash are good forever and can be redeemed for a refund, but ONLY by the original purchaser. Contact the purchaser and see if they will get the refund for you. OK, so this is embarrassing, but what is your alternative?

I would create an entrepreneurial sales tactic - explain you are going in to the card selling business and have picked these lucky people to be part of your trial. Make up some aims for the future and how important it is that today is successful to encourage you further in your business empire. Everyone has had to make a start somewhere and the more positive and passionate you are about something the more likely someone is to buy in to your idea. I LOVE challenges like this if I was where you are I'd help out and have half of them sold in an hour teehee!!Can you help me out with my Q: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Ah4spKUKz5CsD0UsrANE9gjsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20081002020245AAGQtpW

forget about gift cards. if nobody is interested, why put yourself through all that drama? even if people finally did agree to go out of there way and buy things from you, you will be thinking the entire time that they dont really want to be purchasing your stuff. move on. good luck, there are plenty of other ways to make money that will be more interesting. happy hunting!

you might be better off holding on to them you are bound to need something from there soon enough you will get full value for them then. if you are so hard up for cash right now that you are willing to sell them off for half which is all anyone will ever pay you.if you can find anyone to take the risk that its not a spent card, then you would be better off financially holing on to them..people arent stupid you knowand those stores dont do cashback you have to pay a good portion of it on a purchaseyou would be better off going to a payday loan place for 100 dollars than to do that

Sell your gift cards to a gift card exchange business rather than trying to find an individual buyer. Try Star Gift Card Exchange at http://www.stargiftcardexchange.com . The transactions are quick and are backed by a gurantee.Good luck!
