I have been student teaching for the past semester and I will be finishing (and graduating!) in a couple of weeks. I'd like to give a little good-bye gift to my students to let them know how much I appreciated their hard work. They are really my first class, so they have been special to me. I don't have a lot of money (I don't get paid to student teach) to spend gifts. I was thinking of maybe a cake for the whole class or something. I'd like to keep it under $15....any ideas?

A cake sounds like a nice idea. Make sure to check with the school to see if its ok, and include options for those kids who can't or don't eat cake.

My son's teaching assistant bought little bookmarks for each child with a label on the back printed with a message. The kids all thought they were really cool, but it would depend on the age of the kids!

A cake or some baked goods are a simple, yet great gesture, given to new neighbors, friends, family, and from teacher to student. Depending on the ages of your students, magazines like Oriental Trading provide affordable little gifts and prizes in bulk for a low price. For a more educational approach, a bookmark or pencil, or even a crazy eraser will do. For older students, I would go with baked goods. Even if you are not talented in the kitchen or with the oven, store bought mixes, Entemanns, or those cookies that you just break apart and put them on the cookie tray are great. Cookies may be a better idea than cake, though; they come in many small portions. This way, you won't have to cut a cake into 30 tiny, little pieces. One or two cookies, or even munchkins/donuts, per student is just enough. Remember not to use any nuts or nut products, as many people are allergic. Good luck teaching!

A cake is a great idea, but I would recommend cupcakes.I'm not sure of the ages of the kids, but the time and mess of cutting a cake, then they want this piece or that piece - cupcakes elimiate all of that!I like the bookmark idea. Kids also love getting awards - at the end of the year my team always gave funny awards to each kid "best ....". It shows that you pay attention to who they are. You could do "My favorite..." and create a special thing for each child. You could easily print those out on a computer.www.orientaltrading.com also has a TON of cheap stuff, and quite an extensive teaching catalog. good luck

food works, so do little things like fun pencils, etc. which you can get at teachers shops etc. Go online to Oriental Trading, you can get lots of little pens , school things etc. and still have enough money for a little bag of candy etc. , Wrap it with a note from you.
