Each and every person has been sent a thank you card for their gift. We recently had our child baptized and many of the people who gave us baby gifts also gave a gift for the baptism. Do I have to send out thank you cards for that as well, or would a thank you via e-mail suffice?

I think a Thank you would be appropriate they spent time getting the gift an e-mail would seem meaningless

Just go by how much time you've got.Think of it this way. If there's a "right" answer, other people already know it, so they can figure it out for themselves and write themselves a fake little thank you note coming from "you" if it really upsets them.Really, it is supposed to be communication so that people know how you are coping etc. Just be honest with your time and resources and people will get the idea.

What would YOU like to receive? If you can honestly answer email after you spent time and money, finding and sending a second gift then ok go with that. I don't that it is good manners to send an email.

Yes, I think sent another lot of thank yous out, in some form or another. If you didn't do it the first time and it is not too costly, you could save time by getting a nice baptism photo card made up, then you and father divide the pile in half and would only need to write a short note for each. Email thank you is okay if you think it is appropriate, it is certainly better than not thanking them. Some people prefer a formal thank you note, I guess. You could send each person their own email rather than a group email (more personal, and guess it is saving paper - that is one way to look at it). You could attach a nice photo or two from the Baptism (I am sure it would make them smile and feel appreciated still).
