What gift card(s) should I get for a friend in Los Angeles?

My friend (a guy in his 20s) is a starving actor in LA and I'm wondering what would be good places to get him some gift cards. Does LA have Subway, CVS, WalMart, Target, etc. that are close to LA / Burbank?He worked at Starbucks before and he works at Jamba Juice now, so anything but those two!
