I've noticed that Society in general tends to make a big deal about sending gifts, through the mail on time. What's the big deal if they get it a day or two after the Holiday. Why is it such an issue to get a package sent by mail for Christmas/Easter/Birthday/Hanukah, etc.late? Why send it express, and pay extra? Why not just put it in the mail, and send it, any darn way you feel like it? Have you ever actually had somebody call you and say: "Thanks Herbert, for that wonderful gift for my birthday, it was so nice. By the way, it arrived after my birthday?" Now that would be outrageous, certainly more outrageous than delivering a gift a day or two late. I personally never ship a gift feeling obligated to MAKE ABSOLUTE SURE it arrives by the event. I give it my best shot, and if I have to pay an extra "outrageous amount of cash" to ensure delivery by a certain date, I give it the thumbs down! What's your story?I didn't edit the Jewish holiday, the system did, not sure why.Excellent point about kids. I meant to add that for "kids" esp your own, its quite understandable. But trust me, this attitude is expressed for all people, even the most obscure relatives/friends you may have by many people.

Because most people are a bunch of spoiled brats. They only think of themselves.

It's nice to send presents on time so that they can be enjoyed when they're supposed to be. Christmas is celebrated on December 25, not the 27th. If your birthday is April 3, why would you want to receive a present on the 6th? To me, receiving a gift late (for any occasion) shows that it wasn't important enough to the sender to see that I enjoyed my present when I was supposed to. Almost like those people who buy someone a crummy present just so they can say they "remembered" you. I bet you're one of those people who wait until a week after Easter, then stock up on the 75% off candy, aren't you?? RazzI'm not saying I've never sent things late--it has happened in the past. Usually because of lack of $$. (Not able to buy a present until I'm paid, which is a day after the actual holiday/birthday). In that case, I ALWAYS call the recipient and tell them that I'm sorry, but I was a little late getting their present out to them. Nobody has ever complained to me.

It is just nicer to receive a gift on the day it was meant for, but if it can't be delivered then? No worries, it's still nice to receive a gift.
