My best friend lives in another country. She is hard to shop for-Not into alot of things-and she don't like expensive gifts. She told me she like gifts that are thoughtful. I totally don't know what to get for her 36th birthday next month. Thanks.

Make a homemade card and put in there a coupon for you to come see her when she wants you to.

make her a scrapbook frame of the two of you. Include things about your friendship, a photo and a short poem. For instance a photo of the two of you on a ski trip. Then I will never forget the time that we went to Bennihanias and you dropped the shrimp down my blouse. The fact that you actually went in after it proves you aren't ashamed to be my friend. Then add a quote about frienship by someone else...For example MOther theresa:If you judge people you have no time to love them

How about this? You could make a deck of playing cards or tarot cards and hand paint them yourself. Maybe even stationery. You could paint little pictures on them of her friends and family. You could learn to make bead necklaces and bracelets and make her one you think she would like. A hair comb decorated with sea shells would be good toosince summer is almost here. You could put together a scrapbook for her with pics of you and friends/family in it. You can go to a craft store or scrapbook making store to get the supplies you need. You could even customize the scrapbook itself.

It really depends on her personality! How about an Italian charm bracelet?? They aren't that expensive & they allow you to add whatever links you want with different letters, symbols, icons...etc or...Does she like perfume? I always love getting perfume as a gift... If she has a fun sense of humor try www.perpetualkid.com it's got some really funny/interesting gifts on there. If she really wants something thoughtful maybe you could go to a store that allows you to personalize something...you know how they have the build-a-bear workshop...I'm not saying you should buy her a teddybear for her 36th bday but something like that...paint your own pottery...etc. That's the only ideas I have!!!

If you're looking for a fun gift idea you can order online and have it shipped directly to her, I would check out soapcard.com. They make soaps with your photo or personalized message embedded inside. I got one for my boyfriend and he loved it. You can write all kinds of funny stuff. My boyfriend thought it was super cute, but I don't know what kind of personality your friend has so its kind of hard to tell if its a good gift for her. The "Think of me when you're feeling dirty" soap was the one he loved the most.
