|
|
My best friend is getting married next weekend, and I need a gift! I am her bridesmaid, we have been close friends for as long as I can remember...we're both 18 now. I already gave her a basket of household items at her shower, so I want something more personal and special for the wedding. I thought about a real nice photo album or something.. what do you think? Any other suggestions?

I think your doing enough being there in what will inevitably be some puke inducing pastel dress that you'll never wear again.

Do something simple and meaningful. A photo album would be great. If she collects anything, you could get her so methinga long those lines. It does not need to be expensive, most brides understand that their wedding party has spent a great amount of money already.

The photo album sounds like a great idea. Fill it with pictures of the two of you from back in school and maybe insert a note about how much she meant to you as your friend. She'll be touched to know how much she impacted your life.

What is the theme of her wedding? That may help give you some ideas. Where is she having it?At my wedding I gave my mom my bouquet during the reception and she had it professionally sealed under glass with photos, a copy of the invitation, ribbon, etc. in a shadowbox in a beautiful frame and gave it back to me, lol. It looks great and is definitely a thoughtful gift. I have it in our bedroom.I know this sounds odd but I heard it recently: First Christmas. "Our First Christmas" ornaments with their names on them, ornaments depicting their hobbies/interests, his/her embroidered Christmas towels, maybe stockings with their names on them (and 3 or 4 small ones for the babies who may come? lol). It would definitely be original and they will think of you when they pull out all of these decorations in the winter. May have to go online and order quick! Don't know if I've been any help but good luck to you!

A photo album filled with photos of the happy couple (and you) would be good. You can also get a scrapbook and scrapbooking materials, plus clips of old yearbooks (use a color copier at a place like Staples to make copies), school newspapers, menu from a hangout place of yours, etc., and put it all together for them. Also include wedding invitation, announcement, etc.

it depends on your budget. i know that you're young, so that's tough. my best friend got me 2 crystal wine glasses from Tiffany--just because she knew no one else would ever buy them for me! i believe they were $25 or so each, $50 total, not bad for a wedding gift. they're very special to me. another gift that i got was monogrammed etched glasses with our initals on them. it was a nice surprise, and we use them all the time. and very personal.

My sister was my matron of honor, and she got me an engraved heart bracelet from Things Remembered. On one side of the heart, it was engraved with "My sister" and the other side says "My best friend." I cried when she gave it to me, I wore it down the aisle and I still wear it everyday. S personalized piece of jewelry will be sentimental and it'll be something that she can wear after the wedding day to remind her of how her best friend was beside her on the most important day of her life.
