My best friend of 16 years is getting married in jan and I would love to get them something special as a wedding gift. I was meant to be a bridesmaid but unfortunatley had to get out of it as I am pregnant and due around her wedding date.Have you got any great wedding gift ideas??I have asked her and she said not to worry and just do my best to be there! I would really love to get her something though, something she can treasure in her memories.

How about silver goblets with their names and the date of their wedding engraved on them. They will always have them and they will be reminded of you too.

If you want to do something personal, what about collecting photos of the 2 of you, and put them in an album for her? You could also put together photos of her and her groom to be. I always feel the best gifts are the ones that are handmade--if you have a skill that you can use to make them something. You could also get them 2 champagne flutes--really nice crystal, and a nice bottle of champagne for their first wedding anniversary. I've also done picnic baskets with plates/utensils/gourmet food, etc. for close friends/relatives. Think of what she and her fiance enjoy doing together, and gift accordingly. You can also get her something off her registry.

A scrapbook of all your favorite pictures and memories with her. Then leave the last few pages empty so she can add more for the years of friendship to come. A girlfriend did this for me as a gift, and included a few verses that she found meaningful. It really was a beautiful gift.

I agree with the above - a scrapbook or picture frame with a picture of you two from maybe when you were younger would be awesome!

If you really want an item that you know she will treasure, get her a nice vase. Something that fits her style and taste and since you have been friends for so long you will have no problem picking out something she likes. I just like the idea of a vase because every time she gets flowers, or even picks them from her garden, she will think of you as she fills the vase you gave her. Look around at antique stores, flower shops, or any place you usually shop. Good luck shopping and with the baby too! Best wishes!

I love the goblet idea...I also love the frame idea...but my most special gift I got from my best friend was a vase. My best friend is crafty and knows a "glass" guy so she designed it for me. It was so perfect for my style. I always have flowers in it and everytime I walk past it I think of her.
