| I was trying to come up with something like a welcome gift for the friends and family who will be traveling to our destination wedding. From the answers I got about that, I'm rethinking the idea of a welcome gift, and I was thinking about a book instead. Each guest will be there for at least 5 days, so there will be time for people to do things on their own...I was thinking about sending a travel guidebook to St Thomas to those who will attend once they RSVP they'll be coming. This way, they can get an idea of things they might like to do when they get there, as well as get a look at some pix of the place! What do you think of that idea? |

| I think that would be a very thoughtful (and useful) gift. |

| I had a huge wedding planned in San Juan , PR.....I eloped without guests , but i will give you my idea. It could get pricey , but if it's not a huge guest list , it shouldnt be bad , because honestly , when I was researching about destination weddings , proper etiquette is to give a decent gift since they are spending a lot to come. I purshased 100 gift bags online...all white , and made labels on my computer with a cute clip art of a couple...name & date on top , San Juan , PR on the bottom...pink for girls , blue for guys , pale green for couples. Inside them I put:Girls: Paperback Puerto Rican Style Cookbooks , only about $1.50 each if you buy in bulk.Travel Candle for the hotel room.A pair of either white or pink flip flops...the cheap rubber ones.Suntan oil (travel size)A San Juan postcardChapstick w/ sunblockGuys:Black flip flopspersonalized shot glasses with out names and wedding datedeck of cards with Puerto Rican flag on them$5.00 chip from the casino in the hotelSunblock (travel size)Bottle of rum (small size)Couples:Travel candle2 miniature bottles of champagne2 champage flutes (about $1.50 from ikea)massage oilpostcard from San Juan2 bags of assorted snacksKids:beach ballsunglassessunblock (travel size)bags of candyminiature bottle of sparkling ciderdeck of cardsI also printed out my own "travel guide"...it was free...whats better than that? The first page was a thank you note from me and hubby , second page had a little history of the island , 2rd page had suggested means of transportation and important phone number...car service , hospitals , car rentals. 3rd page had suggested restaurants in the hotel and surrounding area. 4th & 5th had local attractions. 6th had a map. I hope that helps you...if you decide you like this idea...I would love to help you find some info for the travel guide or goody bags...u can message me if you like. Congrats & Good Luck! You can send all the stuff to the hotel in st.thomas before you get there , this helps alot! |

| I went to st Thomas for my honeymoon and loved it. there is a restaurant called Gladys' and you should definitely get them all a small thing of authentic Virgin Island hot sauce. it is wonderful we brought back some for all of our family and some of our closest friend and everyone loved it. they have three different flavors though so test them out and see which one you like best. |
