Absolutely! They may not receive everything they want, so this will give them the opportunity to pick out what they want.

Thats what I'm going to do. But thats because I'm going to be out of state. Its a great Idea because they'll be able to spend it on something they would really like. But I would ask them if they have registerd anywhere first.

That's great! Most of the time, they get stuff that they don't use or want, so they have the option to get what they need, which is great!

I think so, I would personally much rather someone give me a gift card then ending up with like 10 toasters or something.

I can argue both sides. I try to get something more personal. There are times it just doesn't happen. Do what you want.

Gift cards are always great. Maybe just to Walmart or Target, or to a favorite restaurant.

It depends on the couple. Personally I love when at least a few people give cash or giftcards because you can fill in the holes left by other guests who gave items, for instance if you got a bunch of sheets but no pillowcases. I think you should just give the cash though rather than a giftcard. Either way they know exactly how much you spent so why not give them the cash and let them use it on an item or whever they need it like the next electricity bill.

You can also get a prepaid credit card, this way they can spend it any where they wish.American express has gift cards like that and you use them just like a credit card.

Most couples set up a registry at one or a few stores. If they've been living together for a while then they probably already have all the housewares they need. A gift card is usually the best thing to get if you're unsure as to what they need/want. No one turns down a gift card, and it gives them the ability to go where they want. Get them a generic visa gc instead of one for a specific store to give them more options.
