|
|
What's a good wedding gift for a couple that will get married in my city but then will move to another country in a month? I don't want to give them money, since I don't want to look bad next to the other guests who are giving much more than I could afford. They're not taking much stuff with them, please help!!!

Gift cards for things like Home Depot, Sears, Bed, Bath, & Beyond, etc. They will NOT want to haul a lot of stuff!

In cases like those I always give something for them like a his and hers bath robes, or a nice set of bathroom towels. Also a gift basket filles bath essentials. The reason why I am suggesting bath ideas is because they can also used them while they are flying out to their new destination.

Do you have some time? Find some postcards of places around your city. Take tons of pictures on their wedding with all family...besides the professional photographer. In about 20 pages, paste the postcards, the pictures etc. and gift them a photo album/scrapbook that they will cherish forever. Price tag? $30-$40. You can also check out photoworks.com. They would always appreciate a nice photo frame already filled out with a beautiful picture of them around your city before the wedding

I agree with everyone else... gift cards work.If they have a bridal registry, you can also look there. If hesitant on what to get before they move, wait until they move... then buy them something they can use in their new home (remember, you have up to a year to give a wedding gift).

What about an open gift card for travelling? Or a gift card from Interflora (flowers)? Or if you cannot afford that, just give them a nice letter/card where you for example say that your gift is to help them packing when they are going to mowe/a nice homecoocked meal at your house before leaving/a picknic in the park etc.

You failed to mention what country the happy couple will be moving to. Since most other countries are basically piles of dog doodoo compared to the U.S., why don't you give the couple a pair of breeding, militant, fighting, U.S. sewer rats. That way the newly weds will be fully equipped to tackle the Mexican rats who understand no English at all and insist on U.S. citizenship or the South American rats who understand nothing at all and insist on staying that way. Think of the excitement the couple will exhibit when they open your gift at the wedding - not to mention the anxious excitement of the formerly assembled and attentive guests. I guarantee your gift will stand out among the others - actually, jump out would be more apt.

If you know exactly where they're moving, perhaps you could research it and buy them something there. I'm not sure if it's feasible or not, but with the internet today, you may be able to set up something really nice- like a gift certificate to a cafe in their new city or something.

Trust me, as someone in their shoes at one time, money or gift cards are best. It does not matter that its $25 or $200.. all is appreciated so much, especially after they get to their destination and they realize different things they need which they couldnt anticipate beforehand.

Memories of this unique occasion are made worthy by the participation of friends, relatives and the large number of guests who grace the occasion and shower their blessings and warm wishes on the newlyweds. To make a mark on the occasion, the couple is showered with gifts of many kinds by one and all. If chosen appropriately, the gifts can become memorable for a lifetime for the couple. Choosing the right gifts for such an occasion has been quite a difficult task. It so happens that you have something on your mind but end up buying something else. You must buy something that mirrors our feelings for those whom we love. You have to be as innovative as you can be while buying a gift.If you know the couple very well you can gift them something very intimate like nightdress, pictures and figures that depict intimacy. Personalized pillow cases (his & hers).OR you may browse the internet for the categories and its price.

I'd get them an online gift certificate, or a gift card of some sort. Something that they won't need to worry about making room for packing the item with them.Or wait until they are moved and get something sent to their new home.
