| If you aren't close to the couple, there is no need to get them a gift. It sounds like they were trying to fill up their guest list so they invited people with whom they weren't as close. |

| You should still get them a gift when you're invited, even if you're not attending. I would spend around $30 or so on a gift from their registry. If you purchase it online, they can pick it up at the store. |

| I always thought weddings gifts are not required if you are not going to the wedding. A shower gift is though if you are invited to the shower but not going. |
