I just don't get it. There are wal-mart certificates on there for less than the purchase price. I can understand it if you will never be shopping at a particular store, but some people have 5 or more certificates to the same store. How are they getting them?

They might have gotten it as a gift and they don't shop there, so they decided to sell it cheaper so people can buy them or they work at the store and probablly steal the gift certificates and sell them for a cheaper price.

My guess is that the gift cards are stolen from either someone else or from the store itself (and then coding at home). Seems to be quite the scam these days as read in the AP news.

people go into wal-mart, pick up items off of the shelf and then bring it to the service counter and tell them they want to return the item. when they ask for a receipt the person doesn't have one so they get a gift card. the person then leaves and sells the gift card on ebay for less than it's worth to get the cash to go out and buy stuff.

Those gift cards are either a scam or stolen, there really isn't another practical answer that makes any sense, sorry.

Because most the time they are scams. I would say it is because they would much rather have the cash than the cards themselves but if that were the case then they wouldn't wait by selling them on line, they would try to sell them to someone in person. As long as they're are criminals, you will always be able t find ignorant people to think about what a good deal they are getting. My advise to you or anyone who wants to buy a gift card is to go to the store and ask the cashier for one. Don't buy them off the open racks in the stores. Most criminals (especially around Christmas time,) will take the 1st few cards that are in the front, look at the info they need (like the numbers on the card). Then they will lets say a couple days later call the number on the back of that card to see if it has been purchased yet, check the money amount and then are able to use your gift card to purchase things on-line so when you go to use it (or whoever you give it to goes to use it,) won't have any balance left on it at all.

These people who say it's a scam are complete morons. Let's say your grandma thinks you love shopping at Champs Sports and buys you $1000 worth of giftcards there. Well you don't shop there so you would be willing to sell it for $900 in cash to someone who would use it. Win-Win.
