When your nieces and nephews are out of high school, should giving birthday and Christmas gifts stop?

I have thought about this before. I suppose everybody thinks differently. I have given birthday and Christmas presents to my nieces and nephews until they were 21 when I gave them an extra special present and then I stopped. If you don't stop at a significant birthday such as 18th or 21st, then when do you stop? It would seem ridiculous to carry on otherwise you'll still be giving when they are middle aged and then you won't know when to stop.
