I've been saving my tuna-fish cans for the last couple years, I have about 150-200 of them in my basement. I was wondering if anyone has any easy ideas for Christmas decorations and/or Christmas gifts I can make out of them? (These are the small 5oz cans.) I lost most of my money at the casino this fall, so I can't really afford to buy presents for my kids and grandchildren this year, hopefully some of you will share your craft ideas and I can make them something they'll really enjoy before the holiday hits!!Thanks!

Ok this does'nt really apply to your question. But I have to ask what made you save all those tuna cans in the first place?

Wash them first. Spray paint them all one color (like navy blue) then paint Santa or snowmen faces on them. Drill holes in the sides and put a spiraled piece of wire through them with beads on it. Then you could fill them with candy or something.

"Granny, why does my present smell like cat food?"Seriously, though, you could tape the sharp edges up, put paper or fabric around the outside, stretch wax paper on the end of the can, and decorate it to look like a drum.

wow...I love how some people are so rude. gambling is an addiction...like drinking and smoking. some people can really help themselves. I'm pretty sure you didnt honestly say "I'm going to blow all my money so I cant afford gifts for my family for Christmas." I'm also very artistic so I enjoy making presents. not everything needs to be store bought. what you can do is fill them with water, freeze them then use a hammer and nails to punch out a design (the ice helps to keep the form of the can while you hammer) then you can paint them when your done and they make a cute candle holder. you can ever get some wire to bend into a little handle to attach. you could also use them to make a little wind chime. put a hole in the bottoms of the cans and use fishing wire to hang them off wooden or steal poles (you could get some from the hardwood store for next to nothing. then paint them up and it would look really cute. especially if you have young grand children and get some bright colours to paint them for their rooms. you could also make some kind of tops for them and then make then make them into little money banks and paint them up and put pennies, 5cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, $1 and so on one them (best for younger kids if you have any to give to) if you can cut the bottom off them somehow then you could attach them together to make a taller can and paint it up to be a plant holder. you could also put holes in the sides and string them like garland then either pain on the bottom or cut out little Chrismtas pictures and glue them on.
