My boyfriend and I were invited to one of his co-worker's birthday party tonight. I've never met her and don't know what she likes, but I'm sure we're obligated to bring something to the party. My b/f suggest we buy a bottle of wine, which isn't a bad idea. But the problem is I'm completely clueless about wines. Does anyone have any other suggestions or can you help me pick out a wine. Thanks for your help

Lambrusco is a very good, inexpensive kind of red wine. Red wine usually goes with red meat, spaghetti, etc. Where I live, it's like $8.00 for a bottle.White wine would be okay for salads, fish plates and other lighter dishes.I would also consider getting her a gift card to the movie theatre- those things can get expensive and a gift card is always a life-saver. Do you know if she is a coffee drinker? What about a gift card to Starbucks?

How about a gift certificate to amazon.com. You can get just about anything. As for wines, if you go to a liquor store, the people that work there can help you pick out a good wine. Can you find out what kind of wine she prefers (white, red, zinfandel)? Then you could ask the store employee what they recommend. I've had good luck that way when I'm looking for a good wine.

Get her a red wine between $16 and $20 or get her a set of nice bath/face towels.

Send a nice box of chocolates! Some people are picky about what kind of wine they like, but you'll never go wrong with chocolate.
