A bouncy chair is a wonderful gift. It's something that the baby can use when they're even really tiny. One that vibrates is a plus, and they're only about $40. They can be called 'mommy's first shower' lol

Diaper Genie.... I got mine at my shower and beat the heck outta clothes and blankets (And I love it!!!)... My child already had way more clothes than I had and one baby can not use 50 blankets. Ha, also I enjoyed getting diapers,NOT NEWBORN!! Sizes like 1,2,and 3. Remember babies don't need nb long, and I got like over 400 NB diapers and had to take them back!! I got the bigger sizes. 1's ans 2's are the best. I hope this gave you some ideas!!

I think it really depends on what your budget is. My cousin's GF loved the wipe warmer so much she bought another (we both thought it was a gimmicky gadget).

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the basket seat covers for the grocery carts. I got one at Babies R Us and then one at Buggy Bagg on line. I use it everyday and it really helps keep baby off the dirty cart. The first thing they always do is put their mouth on the handle and this is a great barrier. My new one has a pillow attached so he can even rest in the cart if he is tired. They range from 20-50$ depending on the brand.http://www.buggybaggs.com/

She will need travel size lotions and powder, etc. A bouncer or swing is also good to have. One of my favs though is the bassinett that I have. My newborn is in it now!! It's a plus, even the pack and play with the bassinett and changing table attachments are great to have because the baby can grow into the play pen. You can find that at wal-mart, target or k-mart.

We didn't have Onesies back in the days I had my gang but I give them at Baby Showers, and Receiving Blankets too. When the little one comes home and for the first few weeks, every time a person turns around, there's a wet or messy diaper. I purchase Onesies in several sizes. That way the baby has some for later months too. Receiving Blankets are wonderful for swaddling the baby, and later on make great burping cloths too.

My fave baby items from my shower were a diaper genie, travel swing, and tummy time mat. If you like e-bay, they also have super cute wipe cases for your diaper bag! I bought my own, but its the thing people comment on the most because its so uncommon to see. The one I have was only 6 bucks and has retro blue and pink flowers and spirals on it.

if she is having the baby in the cold months, get her the fleece bunting bag that covers the car seat. ITS great, because its hard to find a coat to fit a newborn. They have them at target usually around 30-50 dollars.

I got a memory box from Things Remembered. It has a shadow box on top and room inside for keepsakes, it also has his name engraved on it. I LOVED it, it was so personal and just beautiful. It was really more of a gift for me, but believe me, mommies want gifts too! My grandmother got me a nice stocking with his name embroidered on it also, which is so great because we can use it his entire life. Just get something generic, not baby-ish so it won't look stupid when the baby is older. You get so many toys and diapers, something so personal was really nice.
